cave verify: some way to ignore false positives

Reported by: pioto Owned by:

Description

There should probably be some way (env var?) to ignore certain files that are false positives in cave verify, like:

sys-fs/mtools-4.0.13:0::installed

Modification time changed: /usr/share/info/dir

sys-process/acct-6.5.1:0::installed

Modification time changed: /usr/share/info/dir

...

Change History

Other than that, it might also make sense to have a flag that ignored changes to config protected files.

Replying to pioto:

Should there be multiple packages owning the info directory in the first place? I'm not so sure that is a false positive. (No opinions on the requested feature in general.)

  • Status changed from new to closed
  • Resolution set to wontfix

I think this is way beyond the scope of what 'verify' is supposed to do. There are various scripts out there that maintain such lists, and they're always huge, messy, out of date and wrong.
